Fails and Wins

10.09.2013
Hello love muffins. So my life has been hectic here lately. Just a continuation from the craziness of this past weekend... I felt the madness shouldn't end just yet. I used to wish for a busy and hectic schedule when I was younger. Before I had my license. I guess something about being stuck at home all the time made me wish I had a life. Now that I have one I'm wishing someone would take my license away so I had an excuse not to leave the house.

It's only Wednesday and I've already had some complete fails along with some wins too. Let's start off with the fails shall we? Because those are always ten times more fun.

Fails

#1 It was a beautiful day yesterday and after a work meeting I was driving into town to run a few errands. Sunny, gorgeous days require windows down and music blasting. Well, while singing my heart out to Wrecking Ball at a traffic light I was given a few odd looks from the drivers on either side of me. It could be because this is what I look like when I sing that song. Ps the water bottle was included in my car concert. Awkward. Image Map

#2 Jon and I signed up for the Rock N' Roll half marathon in Nashville in April next year. So I guess the fail would be running in general. Because I usually always fail at it. We have started training now so perhaps I can get the hang of it before I run 13.1 miles at one time. We're doing this program where we run 3 miles, take a day off, run 3 miles, take a day off, run 4 miles, day off, run 5 miles. And this gradually builds through the weeks. I haven't gotten past mile 3 yet without my insides burning through my flesh if that gives you any perspective. I can lift weights all day. Running... ? #fail

#3. My week started out with a trip to the gyno on Monday. First of all that is no way to start your week. What the heck was I thinking scheduling that appointment at 9:30 on a Monday morning? Second of all I waited for over an hour and a half in the waiting room before I was even seen. Once I was finally called back, I waited another 20 minutes with no pants on in a freezing room. Thank goodness for Pinterest and Instagram. And then when the doctor finally did come in the room she was there less than 5 minutes. Whaa? Frustration.

#4 I have not been sleeping well at all the last two weeks. It takes me forever to fall asleep and once I finally do I continuously wake up throughout the night. I'm not sure if it's because I don't let my mind rest before I go to bed or if it's my sleeping conditions? All I know is I don't like it. Not one bit. What is even more annoying than my lack of sleep is Jon's gain of sleep. His head hits the pillow and literally 5 minutes later he is breathing deep and snoozing away. #notfair

#5 My dogs ran off on me again. If you are you new around here, my dogs can be the best dogs ever and they can be my worst nightmare. They just decide they want to be the devil when they feel like it. Sorta like their momma. Yesterday when I got home from work it was so pretty outside I wanted them to enjoy it. So we were playing in the yard, under my trusting supervision, when they up and decided to take off. Once I finally ran them down and tackled them I was fuming I was so angry. Do you know what it looks like to see a 5'2 woman tackle a great dane and a pointer? It's humiliating.

Wins

#1 I am getting a new blog design! I am so.stinking.excited. I have changed the appearance of this blog two or three times in the past two and some change months that I have had it. The thing is, I am most critical of myself. So when I design my blog I think it looks like crap and I see all the flaws. For example you could make the exact same "about me" description I have now and I would be in love with it. But as I stare at it now I see how boring, uneven and disproportional it is. So needless to say I am extremely excited to let someone else take the reigns and make me swoon. Can't wait to show you!

#2 The author of The 5 Love Languages, Gary Chapman, came to my church to speak last night. They had a "date night" for couples including a band. Dr. Chapman gave an amazing speech. I haven't read the book yet, but it's been on my list for quite some time now. I guess since I'm going on my second year of marriage now is a better time than any to read it. After hearing him talk I am so encouraged and motivated to practice being a better wife. It's such a simple fix to some of the worlds biggest problem... communication.

#3
Yesterdays business meeting was held at mine and Jon's favorite Mexican restaurant. Talk about a win! That's what I call business and pleasure. We now have an ad for our business on 21 of their tables throughout the restaurant. Holla!

#4 Monday nights are reserved for girls nights. Now that is a good way to start the week. As of lately we have decided to take up Pilates and yoga to get our booties into shape. It's a great workout because we don't even pay attention to the fact that our bodies are burning. We're too busy giggling and carrying on and practicing our future baby birthing techniques. You can never be too prepared.

I had more fails than wins, but my wins over powered my fails so I guess that's a win.
Confused? Me too.

  1. I love this post! I think having a monday night girls night to start the week sounds like a fabulous idea! I also have those same conversations about my dog with my husband, and get frustrated at his lack of concern sometimes. Maybe its just funnier to any person who isn't the one chasing them down!
