Smoothies and Substitutions

As promised I am sharing two of my favorite smoothie recipes. There are plenty more
were these came from because if I don't switch it up I get extremely bored. As I do with most things in my life excluding my husband.

Strawberry Blast

1/2 cup unsweetened soy milk
1/4 cup coconut water
1/2 cup sliced strawberries
spoonful of strawberry Greek yogurt
1 serving of vanilla whey protein powder
1 tsp agave
dash of cinnamon

You could use any type of protein powder! You could also use plain Greek yogurt for the added creamy goodness, but I am obsessed with the Strawberry flavor so I'm always stocked up!

Green Goodness

1 handful of kale
1/2 avocado
1/4 cup coconut water
1/2 cup unsweetened soy milk
1 spoon of plain Greek yogurt
1 tsp agave

Add some protein powder to this smoothie for a more filling meal or a post workout reviver.

Also, I wanted to share some substitutions with you. There are some things that just aren't worth the crappy ingredients in them. Such as soda. Yeah I like it, but I can live without it. Especially if I can find something similar and curb the craving. So here are some subs to curb your cravings.

Instead of soda drink La Croix. They are carbonated waters that come in great flavors such as cran-rasberry, lime, melon, grapefruit. So you get a fruity flavor and carbonation minus all the ingredients you can't pronounce.

Instead of sugar use Stevia. It's a healthier alternative to regular refined sugar. Try using it in your coffee or in a smoothie.

Instead of chips try kale chips. Don't knock them until you try them! I'm a total salt eater so these are perfect when I get a craving to eat an entire bag of Doritos. And they are super easy to make. Throw some kale on a baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle some sea salt and bake for about 10 minutes at 375F.

It's all about moderation. Don't deprive your body of the things it's asking for. Just remember to eat a smaller portion and enjoy it!
