So Fill Your Heart. Meet Rachel Ray's Stunt Double

11.13.2013
Don't mind me, I'm just fascinated with the fact that I have the same pillow on my couch as Sheldon Cooper does. No.big.deal #verybigdeal. Now I just need the American flag and marker board, which is extremely helpful because I've been wondering what to put on the wall behind my couch. Thanks Sheldon.

So once upon a time there was this girl, who I could totally claim as my goofy kindred spirit. I seriously read her about page when we first "met" and thought, "Holy crap this girl is my twin!" And then I also thought, "Whoa, she resembles Rachel Ray!" So of course I told her and as cute as she is she had to immediately Google Rachel. And she just didn't see what I see. So you have to tell me. Am I the only one? Do you see it? Meet Renee y'all!

---------------------------------------------

Hi y'all!   Um, okay, so I really tried to pull 'y'all' off because Maegen makes it sound so darn cute, but I don't think it's working for me in this Canadian accent I have going on over here.  I guess I'll just have to get her to teach me that one day because I could seriously listen to her voice from her VLOGS all. day. long.
I'm Renee from So Fill Your Heart, and this is my very first guest post, so to say that I'm a tad bit excited would be a bit of an understatement right about now.
I'm also pretty excited that I'm doing it over here because not only do I love Maegen's blog, but from what I've read, it seems that we could pretty much be the same person, you know, minus the 'y'all' part.  And maybe minus the awesome clothes. And the awesome pictures. Okay, and maybe the super impressive workouts she does. But other than that, we're like identical.
Alright, so back to the guest post (hmm maybe Meagen has a tendency to ramble on and on too, and then that would be just another thing to add to our 'same person' list).  Since I'm new to this, I really had no idea what I was going to say, but Saturday night I ended up going to my bosses house warming party (where I knew a total of three people, and not that well, might I add), so I figured I would share some of the things I learned from that night to help y'all you all get through any awkward parties you may have to attend, especially with the holidays quickly approaching.

Don't Go Empty Handed- If this is a house warming party, then make sure you don't go empty handed.  I mean, you don't want to be the only one walking in without something, because right off the bat you'll automatically feel more awkward than you already do. Since it was my bosses house warming party, I showed up with a bottle of wine and a $25 gift card to Bath & Body Works. Unfortunately about an hour later, I felt even more awkward when I overheard her tell someone she doesn't like wine.  Thank goodness I slipped that gift card in there at the last minute.

Bring A Tasty Treat- Again, this is another way to help yourself fit right in, or at least in my case, get extra bonus points on your next evaluation. Although my baking skills is pretty much on par with boiling water, I figured I had to try and make something to bring to the party.  So Saturday morning I spent five minutes slaved in the kitchen and made a tasty dessert.  But remember that once you make the treat, you should actually show up with it, instead of forgetting and leaving it in your fridge and then being forced to eat it all the next day (okay, that part actually wasn't so bad).

Make Yourself Look Busy- The best way to disguise uncomfortableness is to make yourself look like you're actually not uncomfortable at all.  If there's no one you can find to get a conversation going with, then making sure you have a drink in your hand is probably the next best strategy. I'm sure we can all agree that this usually helps in any situation. Other options would be standing next to the food table, playing with any wandering animals, or if all else fails, resort to your phone. But again, hauling out your phone should only be used at code red times.  Saturday night, I took my own advice and made sure that I had a drink at all times and that my butt was planked right next to the food table. FYI- just don't do what I did, though, and completely demolish the spinach dip and the last of the yummy cheesecake bites.
Drive Yourself- While this one may seem all wrong to most of you, let me explain.  Instead of getting a cab or getting dropped off like I did Saturday night, you should drive yourself and that way, after you've made your appearance and you're still not feeling the party, you can leave so much more discretely. Trust me on this, it doesn't look half as bad slipping into your vehicle (as long as you use the wandering animal, and not the drink part, trick) as it does having to phone a cab or the person who just dropped you off to come get you. And if it turns out that your boss can actually throw a great party, then you can still always call a cab later in the night and then grab your car the next day.  But seriously, hearing your boss say, "Renee, is that your cab out there already?" really doesn't help the awkwardness. I guess I can deduct those bonus points on my next evaluation.

Actually Go- I know this sounds like a given, but you have no idea how many times I've wanted to pass on events like this, and Saturday night was just another example of a time where I really didn't want to go.  But, for me, every single time I push myself and actually make myself get out there, I'm always happy that I did.  And just remember that even if you don't have a person at the party to use as your crutch , you usually never look as awkward as you feel.

Well, that's pretty much all of the advice I have and, as you can see, even if I think I know what I'm doing, I really have no sweet clue at all.  But I would love for y'all you all to pop on over to say hi to me and to see more about my life, and I promise it won't be awkward....for you, anyway!!

Isn't she the stinkin' cutest? I think she uses 'y'all' perfectly and it suits her cute little charm! Now please do yourself a favor and hop on over and pay her a visit.
