That Time I Disheveled My House

11.07.2013
For some reason I got a bright idea yesterday that I was going to completely turn my house upside down and clean like I've never cleaned before. No but really, I've never cleaned my house like this before. The whole Spring cleaning thing, yeah I don't do it. Dusting doesn't happen but every few weeks if I'm lucky. I'm more of a "how does it look from a distance" kind of gal. Rather than "oh my goodness there is 8 inches of dust on this shelf" freak out person. Dust bunnies? They don't bother me. I embrace them. Now if the pillows aren't sitting correctly on the couch? Mental freak out! So basically I things to look orderly and tidy, but I could really care less if they actually are clean. Strike that. I actually do care I just don't want to be the one to do it. Cleaning fairy where are you?
So yesterday I decided enough was enough. I literally moved every piece of furniture out of every room on the main floor and cleaned like a mad woman. Including shampooing carpets. Say whaaa? I know. I only get this itch to clean once in awhile never so I thought I should act on it. And fast before I could change my mind. So I pretty much pulled apart my house. Spent 4 hours cleaning and put it all back together again.
I never knew my house could smell cleaner than the scent of burning candles, potpourri and Febreze doused on every piece of cloth. The smell of actual cleanliness is heavenly I tell ya.

And my good deeds did not go unnoticed. I was taken out for a celebratory meal and extremely large glass of wine.
And I slept like a baby. Was that from the wine or cleaning? That I don't know.

Moral of the story? Clean like crazy and your house will smell amazing, your husband will reward you with food and wine and you will sleep like you've never slept before.

  11. I am the exact same way: I love things to look clean but the actual cleaning part? I leave that to my boyfriend except for that one day I freak out and everything has to be cleaned or I will lose it. Your house looks so cute too!
