Be Still My Beating Heart

12.04.2013
Yesterday Jon came home after work and caught me snoozing beside the Christmas tree. I was all wrapped up in a blanket, Oskar curled up on my lap, Roxi curled up beside us and the house was quiet and dark. All except for the light of our Christmas tree. #magical. I wouldn't be mad if this became a full time job or something.

I feel like the child comes out in me around the holidays. I just can't get enough of our Christmas tree and the lights twinkling around our home. To say that I love the holidays is an understatement, but I really don't know a better word for it. Maybe I'm infatuated with all things Christmas? That sounds more like it.

I decided to start wrapping presents early because last year I waited until the last minute -aka- days before Christmas and I was not a happy camper. My type A personality was stressed to the max. My family members also wondered if Roxi had wrapped their gifts the way they looked. So like always for once I learned my lesson and started early so I'd only have a little to wrap at a time. Game changer people. I swear these things we learn as we grow up... they are quite helpful.
I hate the way pictures don't do the tree justice. It's sad.
Do you take naps beside or under your Christmas tree? No shame in it.

  1. Your tree is beautiful! I love to look at our tree and be close to it. This time of year is so magical to me :) Last year I was wrapping all the gifts the day before Christmas Eve and I was a hot mess, this year I am going to start earlier!

  3. You sound like me!! I have such a happy heart this time of year, but I should really be that way all year long!! I started wrapping a few weeks ago, before we had even gotten our tree, ha! I wrapped some more Monday night! I just love it :)

  6. Can't we just leave our trees up year round? I'm a little jealous of you getting a head start on your wrapping - I have been itching to do mine but just haven't had the time!

  8. I beg my grandparents to turn the fire on so I can sleep next to the tree and the fireplace at the same time (like a cat, but whatever) It makes me sad that all year round isn't like this. There's something magical in the air, something special about having gifts wrapped under a tree that has a shit ton of lights and decorations I made when I was 5. It's perfection.

  9. Love your tree! The pictures may not do it justice, but it looks beautiful! There are few things I love more in life than Christmas. Everything just feels so warm and inviting. I've had a few Christmas presents wrapped since July when I bought them... ya, I'm judging myself for that one, but it's no fun to have a Christmas tree with no presents!
