Hair Tutorial & Make-up Routine

12.05.2013
No one has ever asked for my makeup routine, nor a hair tutorial from me. And quite honestly I'm positive no one ever will. It's just not my thing. I didn't actually start caring about doing my hair until I was in high-school and makeup was never something I paid much attention to. I was more into sports in my younger days so I didn't care about being girly. But something happened when I hit my twenties. I turned really girly. I blame it partially on getting married and wanting to be the absolute cutest for my hubs. I now love all things clothes, fashion, PINK, glittery, makeup, and hair. You just wait, if I have a daughter... Oh lawd I'd better start saving up now. Hubby if you are reading this you'd better take away our credit card the moment we find out we are having a baby. Boy or girl for that matter.

So back to hair and makeup. I thought I would share my daily makeup routine and a quick and easy hair tutorial because, well it seems like the thing to do these days. And because it's the holidays and let's face it. I'm forced to put on make-up and do my hair pretty routinely around this time of year.

I absolutely love soft curls and for the longest time I couldn't figure out how girls did it. I always got the ringlets when I tried curling my hair. And then my hair dresser blew my mind one day when she asked if she could use her curling wand on me. I was like, "sure and while you're at it have that wand make me ten pounds lighter. Thanks!" When I walked out of there I felt like a freaking model. Like I should have a fan blowing in my face, toss my hair back and have a group of people surrounding me yelling, "Work it girl!" Now you can find me on the cover of Instyle magazine attempting to rock this style on an almost daily basis. See -

I realize the picure is not great. I was using my Macbook. But for future video's or vlogs I will be using our new camera Jon snatched from the Black Friday deals!

Now for the make-up. Brace yourself. It's pretty exciting.

It's all very exciting isn't it? I don't buy expensive make-up if you couldn't tell. No MAC or Sephora in my make-up bag. I've just never been one to spend money on that. I'd rather buy a whole new outfit or Starbucks or 20 bowls of chips and queso. Besides I wouldn't even know what good make-up was if it slapped itself on my face. What's your favorite product you always use?

So there you have it! Hey don't forget to enter the giveaway myself and some of my gawgeous lady friends have for you. It ends in 24 hours, yo!

  1. Maeg, I just was let in in this secret not too long ago myself...and I'm obsessed! I can't seem to make it stay though. After about 2 hours, my curl s are MIA. What's your trick? Also, I'm a newly discovered Clinique (no redness) makeup fan. Before that, it was always Walmart stuff for me, but it's really worth the $20 or so. I promise! XOXO

  2. I don't spend alot on makeup either, all mine comes from Walmart, Target or the drug store! My routine is so simple it takes me no time to get ready. Love the curls video but we need to hear that accent!

  3. I need so much help on the hair curling part of life. It just doesn't happen on my head. There's absolutely no luck for me and keeping curls actually, well, curled. But I'm all there with the cheap makeup. Drugstore makeup is the only kind I buy. I didn't even realize there were other option until I was like 18 haha.

  5. I wish I could curl my hair like that! It is so stick straight that I have to hold it until I start to smell it burning and then spray the crap out of it and it might last 30 minutes.

  8. I love your honest intro. I wrote a while back a little question about whether every blogger who starts out "I've gotten a lot of questions about (blank)" is really telling the truth. :P I'm not the biggest hair or makeup girl either...which is not what you'd really expect from a cosmetologist...the only think I get from Sephora is their liquid eyeliner. They have a lot of pretty colors when it comes to liquid eyeliner! :P And apparently that's my make up priority....

  9. I'm so glad to see a lovely lady using practically priced make-up! I too love many of the products you listed! Isn't the curling wand fab? I got one this year for my birthday and it has changed my hairstyling for good!

  11. Ummm boo for music because I wanted to hear your accent!! hahah! You make this look SO EASY! I can't curl my hair (heck, do anything with it!) for the life of me! I think I still have my curling iron (see!?), but it was bigger, so maybe I should get a smaller one! Half the time I don't wear make up! I know I need to though, ha! When I buy it is either from Avon (love their roller eye liner) or WalMart/Target!

  12. This just made me laugh out loud. I would totally take 20 bowls of chips and queso over makeup any day! I asked for a curling wand for Christmas this year and I'm pretty excited about it!
