The Red Bubble That Taunts Me

1.07.2014
You know exactly what I'm talking about. Wait, you probably don't. There are lots of red bubbles in the world. Actually, I can't think of any other red bubbles except for those red dots you see on liquor store signs and those don't bother me one bit. No, the red bubbles that drive me insane are those on thy precious iPhone.
This isn't even the half of it!
Those little red dots with numbers crawl under my skin and taunt the living crap out of me! My OCD personality can not handle the chaos on the screen.

My problem: I'm just too darn popular. HA! Right. My problem is being obsessive over those red bubbles and compulsive over clearing them off my screen just as quickly as they pop up. It's like a really bad game. A game that I can never win.

I swear sometimes I hear Siri taunting me. "Oh Maegen... you have another email..." (in the most seducing voice ever). "Maegen, you just cleared your Facebook notifications, but WAIT. There's more!" *evil cackle* Maybe that's a bit overboard, but seriously.

I go to do something on my phone and I notice those dots all over my screen and immediately I have to start clicking and checking things to make them disappear. By the time I'm finished with that I have forgotten what I was there to do in the first place. Once I finally remember, I get back on my phone to complete my task and I'll be damned there they are again! Someone re-pinned this, my momma wants to tell me that and don't get me started on the spam email that just pours in all day long.
I'm starting to get stressed out talking about this. Am I the only one? I know I can't be. There are more of you out there I just know it.

  3. hahaha!! Oh man, I knew exactly what you were talking about. And the "But wait, there's more!" comment cracked me up. And I don't even have an iphone, but sometimes I play with my husband's ipod and all of his red bubbles torment me.

  12. Mine is slightly different with the blackberry. There is a little red light that blinks when I have emails, txt, missed calls, etc. And if I can't check it, I find myself thinking about it till i can! Good thing I am not the only one :)

  13. Curse the red dot. I'm just really thankful that Bloglovin doesn't have one. That would really make me start twitching.

  15. They drive me nuts! I honestly can't handle them because the way I deal with email is to keep it til I respond (which can sometimes be never) so I have a perpetual bubble. Then R looks at my phone and goes, "you have 373 emails, why don't you read some of them. Ugh!! I also put all of my applications in folders and I'll be damned if all of those stupid games stop sending me bubbles. Bah. Okay, now that I'm all worked up, time to go clear off some red!

  18. I am the SAME way!! I never updated to ios 7, so that little red bubble has stayed. And I moved my settings icon to my second page so I didn't have to see it every day!!

  19. Oh my gosh, here I thought that I was the only one like this...
I get so annoyed with the app store when there's an app update (or 5), and I do the updates right away on for there to be another update in an hour, and it stays consistent. I wish Apple would just make scheduled updates and everyone just has to have the app updates in by Friday and then everything can be updated Saturday... or something.

Also, if you're using gmail, get rid of Apple's awful e-mail app and switch to the gmail app. Anything that's 'spam' will get put under a section called 'promotions' and it doesn't alert you, it only alerts you when you get REAL e-mails... and then when you open the app you can see all of the other e-mails that have come in.

But damn that red dot. Damn it to hell.
