An Onslaught Of Thoughts

2.11.2014
It was the hardest day yesterday I've had in a long time. And I'm not complaining, just emotionally drained. My brain is swirling with a cyclone of thoughts. I know we all have those moments, but rather than chancing killing any brain cells up there by focusing on one thing, I'm just going to slew them all out here.

› When others go through something devastating or painful, I feel their hurt. Does that make sense? Almost as if I take on their pain. It's extremely odd and I have to remember their pain isn't mine to take. It's The Lord's and it's my responsibility to fill them with joy instead.

› Jesus Calling. If you are looking for a good, quick and easy read for a devotional, y'all this is your book. This is the cheapest I found it for, but it's such a great read and even better gift!
› Today is my amazing father-in-laws birthday! Happy Birthday, Dad! Y'all he is one of the greatest men ever. He helps Jon and I out endlessly with odd jobs. He gives great counsel and has a ginormous heart! I was blessed in the "in-law" department.
› Best eyeliner hands down. #thatsallihavetosayaboutthat
› I want to be an ice skater. Primarily because of their outfits, secondly because of their legs and thirdly to be able to float on ice while contorting my body is crazy ways and have people "ooh and ahhh" while I do so.

› I'm obsessed with the Olympics. Anyone else enjoying spending all their free time lying in front of the couch, eyes glued to the television screen? I only wish America was doing better.

› Jon and I have a half marathon in 60 some odd days and I've yet to put my foot to the pavement. I feel like we should have a little gamble here on the blog. "Will she fail or perserver?" I hope y'all this wisely about where you'd bet your money!

I think that's the end of my slew. I wish I had more randomness, but my brain has given up. Cheers to today and whatever it may bring!

  1. I am the same way sometimes about peoples problems/pain. I think it's also because we have a hard time of saying "no" & letting go of things. I have been loving some liquid eyeliner lately!! Happy birthday to your FIL! Such a beautiful family! :)

  3. Gorgeous family! Taking on others peoples pain can be such a burden but it's impossible not to for us empathetic people. Give it all to God! :)

  4. I am the same way...whenever anyone in my life that I love or care for is going through something my heart becomes overwhelmed and I want to fix it..or take away their pain. One of my favorite versus which helps with me wanting to be a "fixer" is Psalm 61:2. Remember God made you this way for a reason! Have a happy day friend :)!

  5. We have TV's hung on our walls at work, and the olympics have of course been the channel of choice- and I just stare at them all day. Curling is a weeeird sport! I also know how you feel about feeling others pain. I'm way too sympathetic instead of being empathetic!

  6. Your family photo is so perfect that when I saw it in preview size, I seriously thought it was a pic of the cast of Seventh Heaven or something at a glance. It's a compliment. Good luck on your half! And I hope today is much easier and less stressful for you!

  8. I'm watching the Olympics now. In my next life I'm going to be an ice skater. They float and they look awesome. It's not odd at all that you take on other peoples pain. You're sensitive to others emotions and you're intuitive. It's a good thing! It makes it easier for you to be empathetic and connect with others. I'm a counselor, and we talked A LOT about it in grad school how its important to know what do with other people's pain. Sounds like you've got a good mind set about it in giving it to God!

  19. I'm so excited for you to do your half marathon! I'm a one-timer (did one the year after having C-man) and I'm so glad I did! I, like you, didn't train much just normally ran 4 or so miles and made it through. I just didn't want to walk and wanted to finish in under 2:15. It's great that you and Jon are doing this together. You'll rock it!

Put a smile on that pretty face, girl!
