Last week I was emailing back to the comments on my post on Friday and couldn't help but get super annoyed at one of the comments. It was along the lines of "you look really pretty yatta, yatta, yatta. Mind following each other. Let me know!" Honestly, I get those comments occasionally and I've learned to ignore them, but it was the "let me know" that flew all over me. And this small comment sent me into a tiny tangent, which turned into rambling off all my pet peeves. Then, because Jon wouldn't listen to me, I needed a place to list all those peeves of mine. Viola! This little blog here comes in handy 101% of the time! She's always there when I need her.
I'm normally an extremely laid back person, but little things can drive me nuts. So because one person left a silly comment I was sent into a giant attack of annoyance.
› people who leave blog post comments asking to follow each other. I guess I feel differently than some about blog land. It's a place for me to make new, genuine relationships. So if you leave a comment like that, it crawls right up under my skin and chances are, I'm not coming to your blog. Leave a genuine comment and I'm heading to yours right after I reply.
› smacking gum / chewing with your mouth open
› loud sneezes.
› when our favorite Mexican restaurant tells me they are out of my favorite guava margarita mix.
› when I go to pee in the middle of the night and Jon has left the seat up. Nothing like a splash of cold water to give you a quick startle.
› dishes in the strainer. I could care less if they are stacked up in the sink, but if they are clean and not put away it's a whole different ball game. Jon just says, "screw washing them then!" To which I respond... "touche".
› when I find Roxi standing with her paws on the counter eating everything in sight.

› waking up in a frenzy realizing I hit snooze 5 times and don't remember doing it once.
› people in grocery stores who lean forward on their cart walking at a pace a turtle could beat.
› when I get in the mood to bake and my end result turns out burnt. #9timesoutof10

› friends who I haven't seen in awhile and when we meet to catch up, I end up listening to them talk about themselves for 90% of the conversation.

Oh, the smacking food is one of my biggest pet peeves. And that face! Just precious.
ReplyDeleteAn organized house is one of my biggest! I don't really care if it is clean... but does it look good? And OMG - I can't stand listening to someone talk all about themselves!
ReplyDeleteThe snooze thing gets me every. single. morning...I hate hate waking up late but I always seem to do it :(
ReplyDeleteDo not, I repeat, do not look at my craft space. You might not want to be my friend. Help!! So many of these are legitimate pet peeves of mine, too! Running out of creamer?!?! Day ruined right there!

These are hilarious...I have worked at two jobs where I have heard people clipping their nails and possibly toe nails - that is beyond gross!!! I agree with any place running out of something that their known for - hello movie theater running out of popcorn! How is that possible!?
ReplyDeletethese are cracking me up!
ReplyDeleteALSO
"friends who I haven't seen in awhile and when we meet to catch up, I end up listening to them talk about themselves for 90% of the conversation"
THIS IS THE WORST.
One of my coworkers always has a stupid nose whistle. You know when theres a booger so you can't breathe all the way? A normal person would go to the restroom & BLOW THAT OUT. But no. He whistles all day.
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile... so thank you! I love the crop dusting one... dogs seem to get away with that pretty well :-). Just wanted to say I enjoyed the pet peeves rant... makes me feel a little better about my own (you thought your list was long....). Hope you have a great day! ♡
ReplyDeleteThese are great! I think a lot of us feel the exact same about the "follow me" thing. I want people who follow me because they like me and my blog. I definitely feel ya on the clean house thing too. Everyone makes comments on how clean my house it, it's always very tidy, but go run your finger over a bookshelf ;)
ReplyDeleteSplash! haha you crack me up! Typically (watch out now that I have said this, ha!) B is good about putting the toilet seat back down! I am so bad about doing that with a book!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! This is so funny, I JUST did a post about pet peeves last week! The CHEWING thing literally makes my skin crawl! Ugh!
ReplyDeleteDanielle @ Allusional
Hahaha my cats crop-dust and dutch-oven me on a daily basis! It's so gross...and hilarious!
ReplyDeleteClean dishes that aren't put away bother you?? Hmm....I think that's kind of a weird one. I don't like to dry dishes, so I wait to put them away till they air dry, but I always wash dishes if there are any that need washing because I don't like just letting them hang out dirty. :P
ReplyDeleteAnd ungenuine blog comments, those are no fun!
This is so funny. I totally relate to so many...the toilet seat up kills me every.single.time! Xx.
ReplyDeleteI have those friends who will talk about themselves the entire time and it drives me crazy!
ReplyDeleteOMG my biggest peeve in the blogging world is follow for follow? I'm with you on most of these except the loud sneezers since I'm one of them :)
ReplyDeleteOh my.....if you hate the slow walking never go to Costco....I think it's like a requirement that people come with their entire family.....rest their arms on the top of the cart and shuffle around exclaiming "oh look at those pots let't stop and look" and then they abandon that cart in the middle of the aisle blocking my way and straight up aggravate me....I'm only slightly opinionated ;-) Great list!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the ones that comment on my posts with 'follow me' but they don't even end up following my blog! ha
ReplyDeletehahahahahah yessss!! It is so easy to love you Maeg :) There are so many things on this list that I agree with! Especially loud sneezes! My ball and chain loves to do a loud sneeze when we are home alone and then push me to put that extra dash of crazy. haha that little sh*t :)

AMEN to crappy comments and copycats. Just no. Imitation is NOT the sincerest form of flattery in my world. I blame it on being an only child.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just did the snooze thing this weekend and that is the worst feeling!
I can definitely relate to most of these. There is nothing in the world that irritates me more than having to listen to someone chew. :P
ReplyDeleteI have some of the same pet peeves!! This made me giggle and say "preach it, girlfriend" all at the same time! :)
ReplyDeleteRunning out of creamer completely sucks and I refuse to drink coffee without it. And hearing chewing? GAG. It's the worst. I hate the noise of pens clicking...but when I'm extra nervous I find myself doing that.
ReplyDeleteHey gir hey....want to follow each other? Great blog. Totes. xo
ReplyDelete{been there, read that}
Haha or not so funny but totally agree.
this made me laugh out loud at work! Thanks for the honesty :) totally agree with you on the crop dusting! I look at my dog and think was that necessary???
ReplyDeleteToo funny with a post about Pet Peeves. Funny thing is... when I was doing my Blogmopolitian Quiz for a blog post and the question was about my biggest pet peeve I had a hard time coming up with just one. Then I felt like a horrible person and like maybe I was being too critical of people that I had sooooo many pet peeves. Glad to see that I am not the only one some of these things bother.
ReplyDeleteI hate when people tell me to "follow" them. Do you want a reader or a follower because there is a difference!! I'd rather have a reader!
ReplyDeleteHaha that pisses me off too. If you leave a good comment, I'm gonna come see what you have to say. You don't need to ASK me to do that!
