Wouldn't Be A Snowday Without A Black Eye

2.13.2014
♡Happy Valentine's Day all you lovebirds!♡

If it's going to be cold, I want it to snow. If it's going to snow, I want it to be the pretty kind with the big flakes. And that's just what I got. I hope you all are enjoying your snowy days in all their glory! Luckily snow days make for perfect days to do things I wouldn't normally do being stuck inside. Something about being snowed in makes me want to be proactive and bake yummy treats and make cute crafts. So that's exactly what I did.

Linking up with Darci, April, Christina and Natasha to share my Friday favorites from my glorious snow day yesterday.
I got crafty. As in DIY crafty. I know, I still gasp at the thought of it. I am not one for crafts. It's not that I don't like doing them because I do and I love the satisfaction of seeing it when it's done, but I hate messes. And I'll usually shy away from doing something fun because I don't want to clean up after. But I've realized I will miss out on a lot of good stuff if I have that philosophy. So I threw that mindset out the window and flung glitter everywhere. Seriously, I'm still finding glitter all over our home.
Made this cute little toothpick holder to hangout in my "bar" area.
I made this sweet print for my bathroom by making out with a piece of paper over and over!
I added another spruce up to the bathtub considering I spend at least 4 hours a week in there. The outer two will have candles
Moral of the story? Someone take away my glitter and my modge podge.
Oskar gave me a black eye. Jon decided to teach him how to ride on the sled with us. I'm not going to lie, it was all fun and games until I got scratched in the eye. Luckily he got me right underneath, but nonetheless, painful! I lost my contact in the snow and my eyes watered so bad I had black tears streaming down my face. But it was totally worth it considering Oskar now knows how to sit on our lap and sled down the hill. He even carries the sled back up in his mouth for you! #coolestdogever

I was going to show y'all these adorable Valentine meringues that were supposed to turn out darling, but I haven't made meringues since home ec in high-school and I couldn't make them then and it turns out I still can't make them now. If anyone knows the secret to making them plump up instead of lying flat like little piles of poo, I'd love to know!
Boxer Shorts by Essie. I had to break out another Spring color.
Last, but not least, I've had people asking me to make a vlog for awhile now. The question keeps popping up so I thought I'd make one so y'all can hear my "southern accent" as so many of you put it. I don't think I have an accent, but I'll let y'all be the judge! The thing is I don't want to make a vlog and ramble about nothing. That's what random posts are for. So if you have any questions, this would be the time to ask. Not only because I'll give you an answer, but because it will keep me from feeling like an idiot talking about jack-diddly on this vlog of mine. Please and thank you!

  3. Oh no! About the black eye. We take our cat sledding with us but thankfully he's never gone too crazy (I think he just thinks it's normal now...) And that is a LOT of gold glitter!

  5. Sorry about your black eye, but Happy Valentine's Day! I got to go sledding yesterday as well and it was fun, but man it wears you out. I love the Essie polish pick! So pretty! Glitter is good, I wish I had more in my life. Pink Sparkling Champagne is making it's debute in my kitchen today. I love that smell, I all ready went through the hand sanitizer I picked up with it.

  8. Found you via 5 on Friday - now following on BlogLovin'. Love your DIYs...glitter is so fun and those projects would be so cheap to do with some glassware from the dollar store. I wore a similar nail polish color the other week, love it!

  10. I love crafts and all things DIY but I will not, I repeat, will not bust out the real glitter. It gets everywhere, and my daughter would want to play with it too and then it would all be over! I instead opt for Duck Glitter tape every chance I can get. Your projects turned out great though! Glad Oscar didn't get your actual eye! Ouch!!

  15. LOOOVE all of your crafts!! You did so good ;) Hate that about your eye!!! :( So sorry!! I need that nail polish in my life! I need Spring in my life. Hmmm, so I'm going to ask the big annoying question that us married folks get asked all the freakin time - if/when do y'all want kids? Now for a more question (ha!), what's your favorite childhood memory? :)

  16. Oh my goodness...it sounds like you have my luck! If I'm doing anything that involves any physical activity, the chances of me being injured are astronomically higher than if I'm not doing physical activity. Bottom line is I'm not real coordinated. However, I don't think that's your problem here. lol.

Also - the glitter and modge podge combo was a winner. My fave is the toothpick jar. It's so tiny and cute! Prooobbbably the cutest toothpick jar in the world?! Just saying. :)

  20. Ok I don't think you can ever have enough glitter in your life, so keep doing your thing! Loving your bar area, esp your new toothpick holder! Sorry about the black eye, but a dog who sleds with you AND brings it back up the hill? Totally worth it!

Can't wait to see the vlog! I'm all about hypotheticals - so if you had to pick one meal to eat the rest of your life (not worried about calories, etc, what would it be??? =)
