A Mind Sucking Addiction.

3.12.2014
It's a few days late, but I've decided what I'm giving up for Lent. I've never participated in Lent before, but I know my personality. I give up quick I've I'm not 100% determined and have my mind straight behind what I'm doing. And too, quite honestly before taking the time to dig in and read about it, I had no clue what Lent was really about. But thanks to fabulous bloggers friends who have shared their thoughts, I now have a better understanding and I'm excited to participate!

I'm giving up television.

It's an addiction of mine. A mind-sucking addiction.

Like I talked about yesterday, I have too much on my plate to begin with. There's no time for T.V. Jon and I only watch it in the evenings (hellooo Modern Family). It's not bad t.v. other than the occasional reality show I get sucked into, but whether it's good or bad, it's something I'm willing to give up to do better things. Such as:

›› Spend time with The Lord
›› Play games with my husband
›› Walk my poochie pies
›› Sit on the front porch
›› Work on my businesses
›› Dance in my kitchen
›› Take bubble baths

The options are really endless and I'm super stoked to see what life feels like the next 30 some odd days! Roxi wants to know what you've given up for Lent? Are you struggling?

You know what I haven't given up? Meeting women in this blogging community that I feel like I've known my whole life.

That's Allena -aka- the most genuine, authentic, talented girl you'll meet. I have to remind myself we didn't grow up playing ball together and having sleepovers. We're just internet blogging buds until I make my way to Boston and bring her home in my suitcase.

I can't tell you the countless times this girl has brought a smile to my face with her genuine heart.
I love her Motivational Mondays where she reminds me us we're all human and we need a little pick me up now and again... or every Monday for that matter. I might need it everyday, but that's beside the point.

Did I mention she also makes gawgeous handmade jewelry? Take a look at her shop. Here are a few of my favorite pieces!
Aren't they special? Take a few minutes to go visit Allena at Allena Mistral and make a new, genuine friend in this blogging community.

  6. I gave up Facebook for Lent, mostly because I was using it to show off and say, "Hey everyone look at what I'm doing, approve of me!" and I spent way to much dang time on it! Good luck with TV :) I don't watch much as it is, but the Big 12 Tournament is this week, so I'll be glued to the TV watching basketball!

  7. I applaud you for giving up TV. That is something that I would seriously struggle with because I depend on it to go to sleep at night. I did give up Diet Coke....something that I though would be a challenge but it is proving to be much harder than I thought!!! I'm also trying to say something that I'm grateful for everyday and I've de-cluttered my closets! You'll have to let us know if you miss it once Easter rolls around or if you've found that you can live without it.

  8. I admire you giving up television- because the truth is, you are right, there are some many other more precious things to be investing time into!
I hope that it's a really good process for you, and that you are encouraged by the time you are able to spend doing other things!

  11. I've been a credentialed minister for the last 9 years and even I hadn't participated in Lent! I'd fasted, sure. However, when it came to this time every year, I didn't think much about it. However, my fiancé (who is a theologian) and I had a discussion about Lent a couple of years ago and so I decided to participate with him. I am giving up soda this time around. It's so much harder than it sounds!

  15. TV is a great thing to give up! I never really have time to watch it, but when I do, it's usually binging on multiple episodes of whatever TV show on Netflix...then hours later...I feel so guilty for wasting so much time sitting on my butt. Haha.
