HELP!

4.03.2014
I have a major case of writers block.

Normally when I can't figure out what I want to write about I grab a bottle of wine and minutes later the thoughts start flowing. Not this time. I'm two bottles glasses in and I have nothing!

I've been struggling with this writer's block/creativity stunt for about a week now. I tell you what, I am NOT fond of it. I actually have a lot of post ideas that require some kind of preparation that I haven't had time to do. So maybe after this weekend, I have told Jon I'm doing jack-diddly squat, I will have all kinds of goodness stored up.

I go through phases where my juices won't stop flowing and I have notepads filled with ideas and scribbles of genius-nous. When I can push out more than one blog post in a day and have some saved up in the archives. Not this time. I've run out.

I'm telling Jon I need him to do something magical to give me something to talk about. -- musical break, "Let's give them something to talk about. Talk about loooooveeeee." -- Sorry I couldn't help myself. I will not talk to you about our love, don't worry. At least not until mother nature hits and I'm an emotional mess. Although when that happens you have a 50/50 chance of me talking about my love for him or everything he does wrong. Sorry honey, I know you hate mother nature just as much as I do.

Wow, I'm rambling aren't I? Look at that! I've made it 3/4 down the page so far in just rambles. That's impressive right?

I'm going to go read Jana's post about creating quality content for these "blogging dry spells". That girl is a blogging genius!

What do you do when you have nothing to blog about? Do you blog at all? Do you BS like I did?

This pic is absolutely irrelevant. I just felt this post needed a touch of cuteness! Just look at mommies baby.

  3. I'm feelin ya, girl! I can't tell if my problem is writers block or just no time to work on anything. Maybe it's a combination of both! Yay! to a free weekend to get caught up!

  4. My best strategy when facing writer's block is to try another form of creativity--sew or paint or make something for the house. Then--because of the love for DIY in the blog world, I automatically have a new blog post about my project AND taking the time to create usually sparks some new ideas for me

  5. That picture is the sweetest! When I have writer's block I just take a few days off and come back refreshed. Quality over quantity in my mind!

  6. Sometimes BS posts are my favorite - they show who the writer really is! I'm extremely random too.

I think that writer's block is happening to all of us. It's that time of year!

  8. I've been going through one of these seasons lately as well. I have just filled in when I could, and let my blog be the rest of the time. I'd rather have nothing up then something stupid, if that makes sense.

    Btw, LOVE your pj's!

  9. When I go through spurts like this I just take a little break until "the juices" start flowing again. We all need a little break from time to time, and it makes it more fun when we come back :)

  10. For having nothing to write about I really loved reading this post :) Lately I've found that I have ideas for blogging, but I haven't had as much motivation to take the time to sit down and write them out or take photos or anything. Such a sweet picture of your pup!

  11. Your posts are always great to me, and seriously, a post with nothing but that picture would have been acceptable because it's SOOO precious. Love it. I definitely go through these phases too!

  15. I've been through this! I had to laugh because I totally just BS'd my way through it! My problem was more motivation.. I had ideas just no desire to go anywhere with it. I figured it was just a writing "phase" and it was thankfully!

  16. I'd suggest looking up writing prompts. Sometimes they have packaged prompts at the bookstore, but if you google it I bet you could find a bunch for free. Been there. Sometimes there's just nothing that creates that creative spark. Then other times, I can't keep my fingers from flying away on the keyboard!

  17. there are days i just don't feel like blogging so i turn to my list of ideas...which is basically my planner that i have with me where i jot down possible blog ideas. most of the time, i see something i like and start writing. if i get stumped and the post is only half written, i save it and walk away. no point in forcing a post because that's when they're most boring.

this is why i also plan all of my posts and write them a week in advance... i'll allocate about 2hrs to sit down and draft up my posts for the following week. this allows me to write at my own pace so if i get stuck, i can walk away or i can start up another post. i'll go back and forth between posts finishing them up and then i still have time to review/clean them up if need be.

writer's block stinks! maybe it's time for a little break?

  18. Running or exercise of some sort always helps me. Also pictures always help me a ton. If I have an idea, once I take the pictures for my idea, the words then flow from what I'm looking at. I like the wine idea too, that's great for writer's block=)

  19. I always find that when I have writers block, I turn to my bloglovin' feed. It usually sparks my creativity. But also just going for walks with my camera (and phone) because I then have these mini convo's with myself in my head and come up with the craziest ideas....I jot notes into my phone and snap pictures at what ever sparks my imagination!
