What I Love About Me

4.10.2014

Recently I was talking with a friend of mine and we got on the subject of how God blessed us with booties and how we are both dang proud of them!

I know what you're thinking. Why on earth is she talking about booties? I'll tell you why.

It got me to thinking. I really like my booty. And far too often I'm ashamed to admit that. Why? I should shake what my momma gave me right? Actually I'm not going to shake it for anyone unless it's Luke Bryan or I'm in my kitchen jamming out. (Just kidding about the LB part of course). But in all seriousness I have qualities that I love about myself and it feels odd to say that out loud write it publicly.

When I'm complimented on something about myself I tend to shy away, blush and say "oh gosh... nooo" because I don't know how to respond to someone telling me something that's great about ME! I can give compliments like it's my bizzzznazzz, but receiving them? Totally different ball game.

Why is that? We can name every imperfection about ourselves and think nothing of it and yet we feel insecure sharing what makes us great or accepting it when someone else mentions it. It's silliness.

So today I'm going to share with you what I love about myself! And in case you don't make it to the bottom listening to me talk about myself, I encourage you to do the same. Whether you write it publicly or not. Tell yourself all of the wonderful things about you that make you, YOU!

I love my hair. The color, the curls, the thickness. Yes I fake the color, but I pay to love it!

I love my sense of humor. I can be extremely sarcastic and it cracks me up.

I love my booty, obvi I already mentioned that.

I love how goofy I can be. Acting like an adult is for... adults.

I love my heart for Jesus. I fail often, but I always strive to be more like Him.

I love my teeth. Thank you mom and dad for forking out the dough for braces.

I love how competitive I am.

I love how when I get mad and someone laughs at me, it makes me even angrier, but deep inside I'm laughing at me too.

I love that I tend to think of others before myself.

I love my heart for children. I can't wait to be a mommy some day.

I'm learning to love my big eyes that people comment on regularly. It's starting to get less hard to hear.

I love my desire to encourage others.

I love how determined I can get when I put my mind to something.

I love that I'm always trying to better myself.

I think that's a whole lot of love for now.

What do you love about you? Tell me one thing here! Or force yourself to write a post like this and share with the ladies of blogland what's great about you!

  2. YES! I LOVEEEEE YOU AND I LOVE THIS!!! God made us perfectly, intentionally, and IN HIS IMAGE! We are his masterpiece and loving ourselves should be a joy!!!! If only we could conceptualize how He sees us and others ALL THE TIME! Pure love. Pure joy. Unconditionally.

Looooooooove you! Bootyshakin' for you, girlie.

  3. This is just awesome! I am with you in that I do not take a compliment very well, even though it makes me feel all warm and cozy on the inside! We should all work harder and never be ashamed of saying what we like about ourselves!

  5. I love this post. Too often women are critical of themselves (and others) and forget about all the good stuff. I might have to write my version of this (with credit given, of course).

  6. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I just told Kristal that the last couple weeks it's become very apparent to me that I sell myself short, often. Same thing, when someone compliments me I quickly try to make an excuse of why it's not true. I have all these ideas, then quickly shoot them down because I'm not good enough. I was thinking about making my next months focus on this topic actually. I need to work on this issue for sure. Love this post. You are absolutely beautiful inside and out.

  7. Love this! :) Sometimes, all I can think about it how nonexistent my eyes are when I smile, or how my hair is always the slightest bit out of place, but my smile is great, and I don't focus on that. (thanks for the braces mom and dad!)

  11. So great! I'm definitely going to write my own post, but one thing I love about me is that I care soooo much about my friends. I'll drop everything at the drop of a hat to be there for someone if they need me.

  17. Self-love is the best! I'm so glad that I have learned to be assertive. Which translates into, "A kidnapper would give you back because you'd be such a bitch," according to my mother. Happy weekend! :)

  18. I love that you did this! I'm like you, I tend to shrug off compliments like I don't deserve them, but that's just silly! I love that you love yourself (but not in a weird narcissistic way). :)

  20. I applaud you for taking up the challenge to come out and write a post like this! I know it wouldn't be easy for the vast majority of us--it feels weird to admit what you like about yourself, doesn't it?
And I totally love your hair, too. :)
