Living In The Moment

Living in the moment, finding balance in life

It's a funny thing, as of lately I find myself living in the moment verses over analyzing. Making quick choices more frequently rather than thinking things through a tad bit more. Doing what immediately makes me happy over what I "should" be doing.

I'm determined now more than ever not to let life pass me by with a quick bat of my eyelashes. Our business consumes our life 99% of the time. And after the business day is over I spend a majority of my remaining waking hours working on my blog and squeezing in a workout. For months it has become an exhausting routine. I have felt myself crawl into my shell and hide as often as possible from the things I love to do because I can't do it all and my priorities are out of whack.

I'm done with that.

I'm dead set on choosing my husband, family, friends and my pups over my to-do list.

Rather than getting out of bed at 6am to write a blog post this morning, I chose to snuggle up close to my hubby and enjoy those extra quiet moments in bed.

Instead of saying "no" to dinner plans with friends, I chose to say "yes" and skip the laundry folding, lunch packing and email responding I had originally planned.

I pick working out because I love it instead of spending a third late at work trying to get ahead.

I choose to come home and snuggle with my hubs and pups rather than come home and sit at yet another computer screen to write a blog post.

I won't spend another Saturday cooped up at home working on my to-do list when I can be out on the lake or hiking or working in my yard.

I'm not sure what to call it. Maybe a change in perspective? But I'm living in the moment for once and I'm loving it.

  1. This is so great. I had a post last week similar to this, about disconnecting from social media more and just being present, living in the moment happening right now! Such a great reminder

  4. Good for you Maegen! Life is short, do all of the things that make YOU happy :) I wish Dustin and I could snuggle in the mornings, he leaves at 5:30 though. I do get up with him and make him breakfast and coffee now, I have absolutely LOVED that since we started it recently! It's really the small things that make a big difference. Just make sure you post all your fun times on IG, I gotta keep up with my girl!

  8. love this. That is exactly what I needed when I first moved to WV. I needed the time to connect with things around me. I'm slowly getting back in the swing of everything, but on my own terms.

  9. yes i love this!! it is hard to balance it all but choosing family and friend is more important than a clean house. i have had to learn this recently with a baby, the baby doesn't notice the messy house but he notices when i get to spend more time with him :-)

  10. Love this! It's hard for me to let go of things sometimes because I just have that need to try and do it all. I got in really late last night and powered through work today, but totally skipped a much needed workout tonight and I don't regret it at all. The Bachelorette and catching up on blog reading is exactly what I need tonight.

    Keep doin' your thang ;-)

  14. Maybe it's just finding peace. I rode a turquoise green bike in a bikini with my very best friend yesterday. It was wonderful. No agenda no rules. Just friendship and sand and a stop at the lemon bar. Plus my bike matched my converse. Life can be good Maeg. Don't take as long as I did to own yours. You and Jon are amazing. Love you Ponton 😘

  15. Love this! Sometimes we get away to consumed in what we have to, need to, or should do and forget about the beauty of just living in the moment. I love husband and pup snuggles too. There's nothing like 'em!

  26. Girl can I just tell you how bad I am struggling with this. I feel all I do is damn work. I'm so tired sometimes. I'm glad you chose to snuggle and spend time with people you love most. It helps refuel and recharge us. I am right there with you and I am going to work on all of that myself.

  27. Such a good reminder girl! I kinda had one of those aha moments this past weekend when I was thinking about all the posts I should get done ahead of time and then I was like no...I am going to get outside and go shopping and do things for me! It was definitely worth it!
