Tutorial | Image Properties

6.04.2014
Remember last week when I shared some blogger tips with your pretty faces? Well as promised, I have brought you a more in depth description of why image properties are important and how to do them correctly.

Enjoy my little love muffins!

Tutorial on Image Properties

Let's take this picture for instance. It's nothing other than pure happiness and cellulite for my thighs right now.

Monkey Bread Recipe

But once I take care of adding the correct "properties" to the image, it will become a searchable photo that could attract more attention to my blog. The properties make the image become search engine recognized.

1. Load your images into your post as normal.

2. Click on the image. Click "Properties".

3. In the "Title Text" write a description of the image. This is what will pop up if someone hovers over the image. Write relevant to someone else reading. See my example below.

4. In the "Alt Text" write something similar, yet simpler to your "Title" text. This is for users who have a visual impairment or maybe can't see your image because of browser compatibility.

And it's as easy as that y'all! Now I don't remember or take the time to do this every time I post, but I try to go back and add it when I think about it. It's just a simple way to gain some possible new traffic to your blog. And who doesn't love that?

Is this something you think you would take the time to do? Do you not want to die at the sight of that monkey bread? Me too.

  6. Thank you for this! I can never remember if you're supposed to use the title text or alt text for making photos searchable, so I usually end up putting the same thing in both-- if I remember to at all!

  22. Thanks so much for posting this! Sometimes other bloggers will mention SEO-related items, but they never explain it in detail, or if they do, it's very confusing. This post is clear and wonderful to read- thanks again (:
