Hey Baby, Hey!

8.03.2014

So you all owe me a box of tissues because I went through one this weekend thanks to all your sweet comments. After announcing our big news, I was expecting to hear from family and friends, but I was shocked at the feedback we received from bloggers! I can't believe how many of you remembered my post from months ago expressing my discouragement while we were "trying" and exclaiming you had prayed for us since then.

I might cry again. Hormones are a b**ch.

So to say THANK YOU doesn't feel like enough, but until I can figure out how to send you all virtual hugs, a 'thank you' will have to do.

I figured I would give you a quick back story on how we found out and where we are at as I've had quite a few people ask.

While we were away in Alaska on our cruise, I felt weird the entire week. I was exhausted and usually in bed before 9pm each night. I was hungry ALL the time and I had slight nausea. I just assumed these were all due to being on a cruise ship so I didn't think much of it. I did mention to Jon during the middle of the trip that I was surprised Mother Nature hadn't dropped in yet because I vaguely remembered it was her time to visit on the trip. But nonetheless I figured my body was out of whack from the crazy travels and I didn't think about it again. Until I got home. Still nothing. Over a week was a long time for me so I checked my calendar and it turns out I was 12 days late. I tried to contain my excitement because I had been late before and taken a test only to see that awful single pink line. Shaking the entire time I took a test and waited impatiently. Jon and I agreed to look at the same time and promise not to get upset. Then the moment I never thought would come, came. Two bright pink lines staring me back in the face. I'm pretty sure my face went ghostly white and my heart skipped a few beats. I read the directions twice just to make sure I did it right because I couldn't believe it. Jon and I squealed, had a dance party in our bathroom and cried tears of joy!

Because I couldn't believe it, I took two more home tests to prove it. Positive, positive, positive! So we made an appointment for our first ultrasound and found out we were 5 weeks pregnant at the time.

The left is Baby Mills at 5 weeks. The right is Baby Mills at 8 weeks. Grow baby, grow!

So now we are 8 1/2 weeks and over the moon! Baby Mills is due March 12th, just in time to prepare for lake season! Oh and family has already started shopping... this is going to be one spoiled baby :)

Do you enjoy reading weekly baby progress reports/weekly pregnancy updates?

  4. Thought you'd like to try a little known method for gender prediction - Ramzi method {google it}. I'm assuming your 5 week u/s wasn't abdominal, so if that's the case, looks like there's a good chance for a little girl in your future! :)
