The Creative Closet || A Litte bit vintage

9.09.2014
Whenever I first saw this theme I automatically thought "pin-up"! I seriously have an addiction to that era in time. I'm not kidding, I have a Pinterest board dedicated to my alter ego. I've even written about it here. So it was really hard for me not to go that route with this post. I felt like it would have come off trying too hard if ya know what I mean. So instead I chose to find one of my favorite thrift finds, this adorable lace baby-doll top.

SIDE NOTE: Oh my goodness, first how great do those ladies above look? Make sure to check them both out when you are done here!

So back to my top. I'm not much of a thrifter (let's make it a word) until lately. I've started visiting more yard sales, consignment stores and antique shops searching for items someone else may not have and finding beauty in recreating something from the past. My mother-in-law actually spotted this top while we were thrifting a couple weeks ago and exclaimed how perfect it would be for my growing baby bumps (and boobs).

PS. Let's go with a vintageish photo effect here shall we?

After trying it on I completely fell in love with the texture and the shape. Sold! And for $5 I might add. I've already started thrifting for Baby Mills. Buying new for everything just seems wasteful and expensive considering they will only use it for fit in it for a few months if that.

Do you thrift? Have you ever recreated something awesome from it's original purpose?

  1. The vintage photo effect totally makes it complete :) Love the find and love thrifting!! I honestly haven't done much shopping AT ALL since we've moved, so I haven't had time to find some goof thrift places here - I need to get on that! :)

  4. This top is so really cute and your mother in law sounds kind of adorable. I absolutely adore thrifting! I like that the pieces have a history and aren't just mass produced. Also, you would be hard pressed to find anyone else with the same thing as you.

  11. I do thrift!! You can find some cute and amazing deals! And I don't mind "second hand" for peanut. I've gotten some really adorable clothes from friends who have girls. She is going to be one little well dressed little girl. And it does help on the pocket book!

  13. Such an adorable top! I am obsessed with thrifting and finding treasures like that $5 top! You rocked this look - I like that you took on the rocker-chick/hippie vibe instead of the classic vintage look.

  14. I love that you have a pin up alter ego. Mine is 70's bohemian princess. BTW, I've enjoyed watching your baby bump grow little by little each day. :)
