Diary Of A Pregnant Gal || Week 22

Blazer & Maternity Top & Leggings & Clutch: Target
Boots: old
Necklace: Rocksbox

This pregnancy is passing all too quickly! Although I'm anxious for March to get here so I can hold my sweet baby, I also know that if I wish time away I will regret each moment and new adventure that pregnancy brings.

Due Date | March 12th, 2015

Gender | BOY!

Name | Maddox Brian Mills

Size | Baby is a full pound! The size of a small doll. How precious is that?

Feeling | Awesome! I love knowing the gender so I can start preparing and shopping now! I've narrowed down my vision for his nursery so painting will begin this weekend! Eeek :)

Hormones | Tears, tears and more tears. I think it has something to do with envisioning having a son. It's all becoming a lot more real to me now.

Workouts | Walking and occasionally riding my bike.

Weight | +8lbs. I have officially gained some baby weight. I was wondering when it was going to happen.

Body | My belly button is now protruding out (had to take out my belly button ring). And it's becoming extremely firm too. Friends and family have now been able to feel Maddox kicking which is super fun to watch their excitement.

Clothing | Sticking with my maternity jeans, leggings and dresses. Thank goodness it's Fall and that's all I live in anyway.
Sleep | Thanks to my bumpnest I'm sleeping ten times better now, but I do wake up feeling like I'm about to burst once or twice a night. Also, Maddox wakes me up at 6am each morning having a dance party on my bladder. I look at it this way, I'm getting a lot more done in the mornings not sleeping in anymore.

Appetite | I'm still in the same boat I've been my whole pregnancy. Hot, spicy, buffalo! When Jon asks me what I want for dinner more often than not it's Mexican or hot wings. My only random and new craving is a dark chocolate Milky Way bar. I have limited myself to one a week, but man do I savor them!

Nursery | I guess I can add this to the list now that I can begin working on it! I've finally decided my vision for the room so I'm throwing paint on the walls this weekend while Jon (hopefully) sands down and paints the crib!

Missing | I'm not truly missing anything, but it would be nice to sip on a margarita with my chips and queso occasionally.

Fun Fact | Maddox is grabbing his toes and the umbilical cord. I can't wait for him to be grabbing my finger!

Best Moment of The Week | Finding out it's a BOY!

Next Apt. | November 20th for my sugar test. It's two hours long and I've heard it's kinda sucky, but I'm happy to be getting it over with before Thanksgiving.

A Pregnancy Must || The Bumpnest

Bedding: JCPenny
Throw Pillows: TJMaxx
Lamp: Target
Body Pillow: Bumpnest

I bought my Bumpnest very soon after we found out I was pregnant. I was about 8-9 weeks along. I had been following so many bloggers who swore it was there saving grace during pregnancy so I figured I shouldn't skimp out on my sleep and made the purchase.

I used it for about a week and thought it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. Yes, it was nice to be surrounded by a ginormous candycane of fluffiness, but was it doing any justice to my body? At the time, no. So I put her away.

Fast forward to 22 weeks pregnant. My belly is obviously showing, the lower back pains are real, the achy legs happen, I can feel my abdominal region stretching at times. I feel very... pregnant. After a few miserable nights of sleep (if you can even call that sleep) I had a light bulb!

My bumpnest!
I brought it back to bed and prayed it would be the answer to my restless night prayers. Y'all, it's genius! The pillow starts at your back (on the shorter side) and nestles just under you so you get some back support, then it craddles your neck and gives you a little bit of a lift relieving all neck pain. This point can be a little uncomfortable at first because the pillow is so fluffly you almost feel like using it to watch tv in bed, just have your husband sleep on it or put a few books on that area during the day and it will flatten out some. Then the pillow wraps under your belly and gives it the support it needs so you can sleep on your side. And when you think it can't get any more amazing, the pillow swoops in between your knees and keeps them from getting bone to bone action.

For all you preggo gals, this pillow doesn't have a whole lot to do for you in the early stages of pregnancy when you're belly isn't there and you don't have a pound or more pushing on your kidneys. This pillow is just perfect for when your belly has hit the point that people are noticing and your seeing and feeling those changes in your body.

1. The dog in your picture, oh my gosh, what kind of dog is Zoey? I just want to kiss her face!
Zoey is a shih tzu and we think she is the cutest little bear around. When we got her, she weighed all of 4 lbs and was this little fur ball that couldn't run without bouncing back and forth. She is now full grown and tips in around 12 lbs. We are "those" people who are obsessed with our dog. Zoey has everything from a middle name to a place in our Christmas photos. For now, she is the only baby in our home!

Me: 12 lbs??? That's how much Roxi eats in a day! Holy moly! You won't receive judgement from about treating your dog like a child. I've been known to "tuck" Roxi and Oskar in before.

2. Tell us about that super handsome man of yours. What's your favorite part about being a "Mrs." I just loved reading how you two met
Aw, that’s so sweet! I think we have a great story of how we met too! We both believe we were made for each other. My favorite part of being a Mrs. (for almost two years now) is how much we laugh on a regular basis. We enjoy life and because we are together, we enjoy it even more! I also love the extended family that came along when I stole his last name!

Me: Oh my goodness, my emotional self wants to weep! So sweet! I love that you too laugh all the time. I'm glad to know Jon and I aren't the only goofballs around. We're always acting like children.

3. I've noticed you are an avid book reader (as am I when I find the time). Do you have a favorite author or a favorite book series?
This list would be long if I named them all! As far as series go, I love Janet Evanovich’s books; she was the first author to make me laugh out loud while reading a book. A few other favorite authors include Emily Giffin, Melissa de la Cruz, and Jane Green. I recently started reading Tess Gerritsen's series that inspired the TV show “Rizzoli & Isles”. I am only on book one but so far, it has my attention!
Me: Looooove Emily Giffin! Thanks for the great options (I'm always keeping a running list).

4. I read here that you reached a huge goal in your weight loss journey. What has been the best motivation for you?
The biggest motivation has definitely been my overall health. It’s so odd, a lot of people lose weight for a specific reason (like a wedding) but those type of things never seemed to be enough motivation for me. When I started seriously thinking about expanding our family, it was scary how many different risks are involved. This was one that I could control. I am not at my destination but it is an ongoing journey – so in other words, I still fall off the wagon but I get back up and start moving again!
Me: You are seriously so inspirational! Get it girl! The time that Jon and I got pregnant was when I got into the best shape of my life after trying for over a year. I believe no doubt, momma's health makes a huge difference in making and carrying a baby.
5. I know for me I have troubling maintaining a healthy lifestyle (hello preggo cravings). Do you have any tips or advice maintaining weight loss?

One thing that has really helped is to realize that it is an ongoing journey of small decisions. You can make a few wrong turns and end up in a heap of trouble, but if you keep making small right decisions, things are going to move in the right direction. Choose the broccoli over the fries, the lean protein over the cream-based pasta, and you will make small steps to a healthier life.

Me: Easy peesy, right? I don't ever substitute fries... if I could live off one food it would be fries. Although they aren't really considered real food are they? Okay, fine I'll substitute them for broccoli next time!

6. If my readers want to find you or stalk your dog how can they go about doing so?
I personally love Twitter and Instagram. Two of my favorite authors mentioned previously? Both of them have responded and favorited tweets of mine and I love the concept that anyone can tweet to anyone! Plus, I use it to stay in the loop on news and new blog posts that might get tweeted before showing up on BlogLovin’. Tweet, tweet!

Y'all go meet Elizabeth and say "hi". She's bubbly with such a beautiful spirit - I adore her!

You can also stalk Elizabeth on Facebook, Bloglovin' or Pinterest.

The Creative Closet || Fabulous Flannel

Oh my goodness Jana (and Joshua) and our co-host this week, Amanda nailed it! Find all the details surrounding their looks on each of their blogs.
Seeing Jana do style posts with her son, Joshua, totally gets me stoked about styling my Maddox! Who says little boys have to look drab?
Flannel Top: Target
Scarf: Provision Shop
Jeans: Motherhood Maternity
Boots (Similar): Target
Military jacket (similar): Gap
It's official, October was my favorite month of themes! That is until the next month rocks my socks off and I'm giddy all over again. Flannel is seriously right up my alley. It was a tough decision sifting through my flannel selection (it might be bigger than any other selection in my closet) and deciding which shirt I wanted to use. I settled for this adorable flannel top from nowhere other than Target. It's beyond comfortable and the colors scream HOLIDAYS ARE COMING! Now pair it with a knit scarf, boots and a bold red lip and there mind as well be snow on the ground.

Speaking of snow, can you believe we are heading into turkey month? This pregger chick is prepared! I've got my "I can fit the most food in my belly and no one will see a difference" pants, also known as maternity jeans ready for the big day! And I'm thanking Maddox in advance for the fact that I already look like I've eaten two platefuls of turkey, mashed potatoes, corn casserole, stuffing and apple pie. I've waited for the day that I could get away with a food baby and blame it on a real baby!

So check out the prompts below because there is more to look forward to than turkey this month. PS. We won't judge you if you have a food baby in your pictures. Tis' the season, right!?

If you join in with us (#happydance) we would love it if you would share the button below in your post or on your blog sidebar. Thank you in advance!

Diary Of A Pregnant Gal || 20 & 21 Weeks

Forgive me that this post is not in "normal" format. I couldn't put all my excitement into that cookie cutter format today.

So this is where I'm at. I completely spaced on blogging my 20 week progress last week. Why? Because I'm pregnant that's why. My brain goes a mile per minute and I feel like a bad mama-jama if I remember to take my prenatal pill each morning.

Sunday is the big day! If you don't follow me socially than you missed it yesterday. We had our 21 week anatomy ultrasound. It was so incredible to see our sweet baby up on that screen. He/she actually looked like a baby rather than a gummy-bear! In fact there is a picture below to show you :) My heart melted listening to the heartbeat once again and watching my baby squirm all around.

I think the most surreal moment was feeling a kick in the side and actually watching Baby kick his/her leg on the monitor. Pregnancy and the creation behind it just astonishes me. #wellplayedGod

This was supposed to be my 'jealous' face. I now know not to make that face ever again.

Now comes the tough part, continuing to wait until Sunday to found out the wonderful news! I've never wanted to make like a savage and tear apart an envelope so badly in my life. I did make my sister-in-law open it in front of me so I could watch her reaction and it was worth it.

But now Jon and I are replaying the day over and over and trying to make sense of it to figure out the gender ourselves. A lot of conversations sound like this, "Did you see what I saw when she scanned really quick by the leg?" "Yeah, but I think she said that was the ambilical cord". "Well your sister reacted this way so that makes me think it's a girl." "Well how would she have reacted if it was a boy?" "Good point."

It's exhausting.

Either way I can't believe we are going to be smooching on a baby boy or girl in 19 short weeks or less! Can't wait to share our news with you!

Side profile. Baby has their hand up to their face just above his/her nose.

I'll be announcing the gender on social media Sunday evening after our party so make sure to follow along for VIP access. I'll announce it on the blog on Monday for those of you non social media folk :) #nojudgement #butgetwiththeprogram

What's your vote? Boy or girl?

Be A Kickbutt Sponsor For Your Sponsoree

Now that I've opened up my sponsorship opportunities again I realize all the work that goes into promoting! It's a detailed job - especially if you care about your sponsors. As a sponsoree (the owner of the blog) you have to study your sponsor, get to know them by emailing back and forth, social media stalking, digging through their blog to get a sense of who they are. You have to keep up with them and what's going on in their lives so you can best promote them. It's work I tell ya!

But I have also realized it can't be left up to the sponsoree. It's extremely important for a sponsor to help the sponsoree promote them.

Are you lost yet? I was for a minute too, no judgement.

I have a couple tips for you that I've learned as both a sponsor and a sponsoree. I'm always open to more suggestions so feel free to leave a comment below!

Write continually. ---- It's really important to take the time to keep up with your blog that month and write continually. If I'm sending people to your blog, they want to see something good! You don't want to miss the opportunity of gaining new followers because you aren't writing daily. I'll be honest, if I come to your blog and notice you haven't posted in two weeks, I'm probably not coming back.

Have good content. ---- The month you are sponsoring someone you should think about the types of posts you could write to intrigue a new reader. Save up your good stuff and shovel it out throughout the month. Maybe plan a giveaway that month too. We all like free stuff so it never hurts to have a giveaway when you have new visitors coming around.

Meet your new readers. ---- A lot of times new readers will drop a comment saying, "New follower, found you from The Modern Tulip". Take the time to respond to those comments and even visit their blogs and leave a line. It shows you appreciate the fact they took the time to click on your face and stalk your blog leave you a comment.

Get involved. ---- I've never quite understood why a sponsor will pay to advertise on a page and then not involve themselves in the giveaways offered or the individual feature post. I've never had this happen, but I've seen it with other bloggers. I just want to shake them and say whyyyyy on earth did you pay to sponsor them? A lot of people will swap buttons or throw yours up for free so if that tickles your fancy, save your bucks and go that route.

Give your sponsoree feedback. ---- I mention in my sponsor welcome emails that I want to know if there is anything specific my sponsor wants promoted during their time on my blog. For instance if I have a sponsor who is pregnant and they are going to be announcing their baby's gender that month, and they told me this, I would make a huge deal out of it on social media that day to direct more traffic. Or if they decide to have a giveaway, shoot me an email and I'll promote it for them! Extra marketing never hurt anyone.

Now all this talk about sponsorships has got me going and I'm feeling generous. Use code FALLYALL for 10% off any ad spot here. I'd love to have you and now that myou know all this info, we could be a dream team :)

The Creative Closet || Lovely Layers

How great do Jana and Jessica look? You can click their names to see their detailed looks. I recommend it.

Cardigan & Boots: Target || Chambray: Old Navy || Jeans: Motherhood Maternity || Necklace: Very Jane || Bag: Old

I've determined layers are my friend. Not only do they disguise those cute hideous little muffin tops appearing on my waistline, but they create a great dynamic to an outfit. How boring would it have been if I had just worn the chambray shirt buttoned up without the cardigan and statement necklace? Lame. Instead I hide my muffin tops (win) and created depth to my outfit. Not to mention Fall is always known for the ever changing temps. It's cold in the morning, warm in the afternoon and cold again by 6pm. Having my cardigan, I was able to be warm early in the day and then take it off while shopping mid afternoon.

I forgot to take a picture, but I did have extra layers in the form of a scarf and beanie that I wore early in the morning because there was frost on my windshield! By 11am those had to be stripped off.

Do you layer for comfort or to create a more dynamic/stylish outfit?

We have just one more theme up for October and then it's November themes! What!? I'm totally okay with this though because that means Thanksgiving -aka- stuff my face and get away with it because I'm pregnant day - is just around the corner. Hellooooo holidays! Anyways, join us next Tuesday for Fabulous Flannel. Who doesn't love flannel?

Please make sure to share The Creative Closet button in your post or on your sidebar if you link-up with us.

And if you join in, spread the love and visit some other blogs. You may find a new favorite read and they might just reciprocate that love!
