My boys and I checked out the quaintest little soda shop this weekend called Fizz. I've been begging Jon to do something outside of our typical norm. We tend to get stuck in a funk of doing the same things, going to the same restaurants even ordering the same food. It's become so monotonous. I'm sure you've been there?
I was really stoked to try out Fizz. All my local friends... go! It's right in the heart of downtown Johnson City and it's just the cutest little spot with all sorts of old fashioned sodas, ice cream and Italian sodas. It's oh so yummy!
Maddox couldn't get enough of my whipped cream, which only further assured me that he is in fact my child.
Side note - funny story about whipped cream; once upon a time when Maddox was about 7-8 months old I was holding him as I was getting something out of the refrigerator. Within seconds he's reaching for the bottle of whipped cream in the door. I thought he was intrigued with the red can. Next time I go to the refrigerator holding him he goes for the can again. This can't be a coincidence I thought? The next day I come into the kitchen to find Jon squirting little shots of whipped cream into our babies mouth and then into his own. Jon told me this was a secret bond they had been sharing for some time. I caught them red handed in the act! Maddox still knows exactly where the whipped cream is kept in the refrigerator and has a love affair with the white, fluffy goodness. I can't say that I blame him. If I lacked self restraint you would find me in the kitchen, fridge open, red can turned up.
Bringing this post back full circle, Jon and I have decided to be intentional about trying new places and keeping our eyes peeled for new things to do around town. Summer is the perfect time to do this too because there is so much to do! Yoga in the park, music festivals, downtown happenings, new restaurants popping up. The options are endless and I'm excited to kick our boring "same ole, same ole" out the door.
Do you tend to get stuck in a rut with your outings? What are some of your favorite Summer activities with your significant other or family?
