What Do You Want From Me?

5.09.2016
I pretend each rock I'm handed is the coolest rock I've ever seen.

Are you tired of hearing me apologize for my silence on the blog? Yeah me too so I'm not going to even bother...

In all seriousness, aside from the family flu and toddler ear infections that caused me to put life on the back burner, I've been hiding from my blog. I feel like everything I start to put together is lacking something and I've just felt so... inadequate and uninspired the last few months. It's way easier to neglect my blog and crawl in a hole when I feel like that, but the downside to that is my feelings of inadequacy just grow bigger and anxiety starts to beat the crap out of me. Because I love blogging. Last year specifically I can remember feeling on top of the world in Blogland. Inspiration and ideas out the wazoo, free flowing words when I sit to write and lots of comments and feedback on each post making it all feel "worth it".

Hopefully you sort of get what I mean and I don't sound like a crazy woman (which I fully admit to being at times).

At the end of last week I felt myself crawling back in my dismal, anxiety ridden hole and I just couldn't bare the thought of feeling disappointed in myself for failing to show up here again.

So I turned on my computer and I swear to you I stumbled upon this post by one of my favorite sarcastic mom bloggers, Stephanie of Olive and Tate. I read the part about a having a cheer-leading/vent session with a fellow blogger and that's honestly all it took for me to email her my whiny little rant about my blog funk and how I needed her to snap me out of it since I couldn't rely on my typical glass of wine to do the trick. #preggoproblems

Would you believe me if I told you I had a response in my inbox within 24 hours? Stephanie, I owe you a really yummy bottle of Cabernet and a really big hug.

She had some really sound advice, tons of super duper ideas for endless content and encouragement to get back on the blogging train. Plus she totally made me feel like I wasn't crazy, but dealing with something that SO many bloggers deal with. I honestly felt relief and weight lifted off my chest as I read her email. And then she sent me a sweet little Snapchat video of her gorgeous face just to give me that extra little nudge of encouragement.

I'm seriously so grateful to you Stephanie.

So all of this word vomit to get down to two things.

ONE - if you are struggling with this whole "balance blogging and and real life thing", you are not alone! Reach out to someone and ask for help. Or moral support. There are fabulous women out there who would be willing to give you some feedback and remind you that you are not crazy. Plus it's so refreshing for a new set of eyes to look at your blog and give you ideas that are staring you in the face.

TWO - I would really love it if you would take a minute and let me know if there is something specific you would like to see on this here blog of mine. I obviously write and take pictures for my own happiness, but also to be a tiny beacon of light or inspiration for someone else in this world. Do you want to see more mom-friendly looks? How to take an outfit from playdates to datenight? Maybe more rounds of my husband picked out my outfit? Or perhaps maternity looks - yeah I've hardly shared my pregnancy on here. Maybe a typical day in my life? Hacks for getting crap done as a SAHM? I know what you are thinking, "how the heck is she going to write about getting crap done? She doesn't even blog?" Well I'm figuring it out and I have some super great tips to share!

So tell me, what do you want from me?

  9. Girl, I know the feeling. I have been in such a slump lately and it sucks. To top it off when I switched to Wordpress I feel like my page views and comments dropped significantly, which is also a downer.

I love your blog, I think you do a great job and you keep it interesting! I would like to see more mom related things, you seem like you have great time management skills! Also your house looks GORGEOUS! I'd love to see more or decorating tips.

Hang in there! You have a lot on your plate - don't be so tough on yourself xx

  11. I have been feeling the same way about blogging, especially while pregnant! It's really hard to feel motivated to get dressed let alone pump out amazing content with great pictures! I basically took a 5 month break until I had a little bit of energy to write a post or two but now I"m back stuck in the mud! Hopefully I can snap out of it soon! Any advice is always appreciated! P.S. You look amazing! I love your jeans!
