Pre-Baby Overhaul Shopping

See outfit details in yesterdays post
It's BABY MONTH! I can't believe our little girl is due to be here in 23 days! You can expect to see quite a few "preparing for baby" posts coming up as I scramble to get the last minute details done. And I promise I am working on a nursery reveal. The picture taking has been a pain in my you know what...

So I told you yesterday I was excited for this post and I truly am! I was so giddy about going on this shopping trip, loading up, unloading, putting away and then sitting here to tell you all about it! I'm a nerd y'all. I love organization, planning, preparing at it's finest! And let me tell you, it feels really good to have all the "basics" stocked at our house so I don't have to worry about a think when baby girl gets here.

That's why I did this. I didn't want to worry about running out of something we use regularly and having to manage getting two under two out the door in the early stages. Or bothering my husband to pick it up on his way home from work. So I highly recommend making this trip even though it's a lot of pre-thought and preparation I promise it will be worth it when you have that little one at home and you cringe at the thought of getting dressed, packing a diaper bag and getting out the door for something little.

This was an all day affair I warn you, but Jon and I had so much fun together doing it. Oh married life... making fun out of the mundane, grown up chores! I dropped off Maddox with his MiMi and we started shopping at SAMs around 11am I think and it took us just over an hour to get it all. Not to mention it took me a few hours once we got home to unload and put it all away neatly. That also could be because I cleaned out each cabinet before putting it all away to make sure I had everything organized. And honestly I had to make space for all of it.

This entire trip cost us about $346.45 total, but it's all things that won't expire and that we use daily. If you can't afford to do it all at once I recommend keeping a master list (I'm sharing below) in your purse and occasionally add a few things to your cart each time you go shopping and check it off.

Oh and wear comfortable shoes when you go shop! I learned the hard way!

Daily Necessities:
- paper towels
- toilet paper
- cotton-balls / q-tips
- shampoo / conditioner
- body wash
- face wash
- razors / shaving cream
- deodorant
- toothbrushes / toothpaste
- extras of all make-up (foundation, concealer, mascara)
- make-up remover wipes (because what sleep deprived mom wants to wash her face?)
- trash bags
- ziploc bags / freezer bags
- foil / seran wrap
- dishwasher pods
- dish soap
- laundry detergent / fabric softener
- baby motrin / adult ibprofen
- vitamins
- diapers / wipes
- pump hand sanitizer
- dog food / treats

For mama post-baby:
- witch hazel pads
- dermophlast
- panty liners
- nursing pads
- gel packs

I plan on doing a grocery shopping haul and making freezer meals to stock up (stay tuned), but I went ahead and purchased a few things in bulk that would last in our pantry for quick snacks or extras we use regularly.
- dry cereal
- snack bars (Lara bars, kind bars)
- chips
- mac n' cheese for Maddox
- oatmeal
- gatorade
- Bai drinks (flavored water)
- coffee / filters

These are just the items we purchased, but of course you would tailor this to your family's needs and necessities. Happy shopping!

  5. Yes yes yes!! We did this at Costco right before Haddie was born (nesting at its finest) and while I almost wanted to cry at the price when we checked out, it was SO nice to not have to worry about any of this stuff once she was here!

  6. Ohhh make up remover wipes are a great idea! I need to stock up on those.

  7. I bet it feels so good to have everything ready to go! Definitely a must, even with your first babe!

  8. The greatest idea! I'd stocked up on my tp and paper towels and most of our laundry detergent stuff. I was still working on food... haha
